Mission Statement

Empowered by the Holy Spirit, Faith Lutheran Church (FLC) shares with everyone the love and forgiveness of God through Jesus Christ, His Son, our Lord.

Who We Are

FLC was founded in 1956 in Surrey, BC. We have been at our current location since 1978. Our interim and lead pastor since April 2024 is Rev. Leonardo Neitzel.

Our church is a member of Lutheran Church-Canada (LCC), which itself is a member of the International Lutheran Council (ILC).

Please refer to LCC’s What We Believe page for information on our statement of faith.

What We Believe

Scripture Alone

The Bible is God’s inerrant and infallible Word, in which He reveals His law and His gospel of salvation in Jesus Christ, The Son of God. It is the sole rule and norm for Christian doctrine.

See Psalm 119:105; Matthew 24:35; John 17:17; 2 Timothy 3:16-17; Hebrews 4:12; 1 Peter 1:25; and 2 Peter 1:19-21.

Jesus Christ Alone

Salvation is made possible only by Jesus Christ, God’s Son, and not by anyone else. As Lord and Savior, He alone has the power to save sinners and grant them eternal life.

See John 14:6; Acts 4:11-12; Romans 5:17; 1 Timothy 2:5-6, and Hebrews 4:14-15.

Grace Alone

God loves the people of the world, even though we are sinful, rebel against Him, and do not deserve His love. He sent Jesus, His Son, to love the unlovable and save the ungodly. By His suffering and death in our place Jesus purchased our forgiveness and won eternal life for us.

See Luke 19:10; Romans 5:6-8; Ephesians 2:8-9; and Titus 3:4-7.

Faith Alone

All who hear this good news and believe it have the eternal life that God offers. God creates faith in Christ and gives people forgiveness through Jesus.

See John 3:16; Romans 3:22Romans 4:4-5; Galatians 2:16; and Ephesians 3:11-12.

Our Worship

Worship at Faith Lutheran is family-integrated, meaning both children and parents attend the same service. The English fellowship has children’s Sunday School and Adult Bible Study before its service except during the summer. There is a “cry room” for young children to use if their parents wish.

We offer services in English, Spanish, Korean, Oromo and Chinese.

The English fellowship celebrates Holy Communion on the first and third Sundays of each month. If there is a fifth Sunday in a month, that Sunday is a traditional divine service with Holy Communion.

Sowing Seeds Preschool

Our Church administers Sowing Seeds Preschool, a Christian preschool which operates on our property. Please visit its website for more details.
